A 'conchero' dancer is getting prepared for the ceremony he is about to perform. It is common to see street artists doing rituals based on Pre-Columbian beliefs outside the ruins of Templo Mayor.

This serpent's head made of stone observes the rush of hundreds of pedestrians everyday. Carved in the times of the Aztec Empire, it was set as an ornament for the Palace of the Counts of Calimaya in the 18th century. Now this building hosts the Museum of the City of Mexico.

A woman and a child ask for money outside of the main entrance of the Metropolitan Cathedral. Even though Zócalo Square is considered the political, religious and historical center of Mexico, marginalization rates in the surrounding areas are extremely high. This is a place where all kinds of people meet.
