    A young man reads a book from the upper part of a sidewalk. The hubbub of Madero Avenue, Latin America's busiest one, doesn't seem to bother him. Finding a place for oneself in a city with a population of more than 8 million can be easier than expected, if a person looks for the right place with some creativity. Views[334] The spacious courtyard of a colonial mansion located in República de Cuba Street is now used as a parking lot, clothes dryer and even as an oratory. When the city outgrew its original limits during the past century, a great number of constructions in downtown were abandoned or occupied by lower class people. It is still possible to feel the old glory of this building when you visit it. Views[927] A woman and a child ask for money outside of the main entrance of the Metropolitan Cathedral. Even though Zócalo Square is considered the political, religious and historical center of Mexico, marginalization rates in the surrounding areas are extremely high. It is common to see street artists doing rituals based on Pre-Columbian beliefs outside the ruins of Templo Mayor. Carved in the times of the Aztec Empire, it was set as an ornament for the Palace of the Counts of Calimaya in the 18th century. Now this building hosts the Museum of the City of Mexico.
