Garut Rams Fighting

The Garut rams have long circular horns. This type of rams likes to bang its heads against the wall, trees or heads of other rams. These sheep are also the strongest race in Indonesia. Here in this picture, the rams are waiting for the competition to begin.

People bring their competing rams from padepokans (communities of rams owners) all accross Garut.
Garut is a town in the West Java province of Indonesia.
There are so many supporters come to cheer on their favourite fighting rams.

Rams are allowed to start fighting at about two years of age and continue up until four to five years old. They have a special diet which, in addition to commonly fed grass and concentrates, may also contain eggs and honey. In this picture, a man applies coconut oil to the ram's horns. The purpose of this exercise is to make the ram's horns look shiny. The finished article is a very fine looking but powerful ram that's ready for battle.
