On Chasing your dreams

“How did I end up here?” a question that just kept popping up in my mind like there is nothing else my brain could be busy with! To be honest, it didn’t bother me at all. I kept thinking about what am I doing here? What about the dreams I kept telling everyone about when I was a little kid? That I’ll travel around the world, meet a whole bunch of different people, get to know different cultures & visit every place I dreamt about. Yet I’m here sitting here doing nothing. A day after a day & all I do is the same thing. I keep telling myself I’ll go for it & chase my dream but I keep clinging to the daily boring routine of my life.
It all came to the day I decided to let go of everything that was weighing me down, the day I decided to go for it no matter what happens. to be honest, that was the first time I’ve felt relieved in a while. My journey started in Egypt, my homeland. I decided to see my country like I’ve never seen before. I started with Luxor and Aswan, where I could witness the greatness of my ancestors. Just to look at the Holly temples and to see that they built them with passion. They knew they’re building something that should last for eternity, an evidence that they existed here before. I was mesmerized just by getting lost in the beauty of the great paintings they made & by their brilliance in sculpting their great statues.
Of course I can’t describe the feeling of cruising in a small boat in the river Nile with Nubian people & enjoying their folklore songs, To see their beautiful little colorful houses & to hear the laughter of their kids while playing in the streets. To feel the pure joy that’s like touching the sky with your own hands.
After that I went to Alexandria, the city that was once the lighthouse of knowledge for the world. Just imagining that you’re walking in the old streets of Alexandria and listening to the words of wisdom from the ancient gods, reading a book as you lay down at the beach under the lovely sun.
Finally my journey took me to Cairo. The old streets & buildings, Just gazing upon the works of great architects from everywhere. From the Italian to the French to the Arab architects.
Having a walk in a 1000 years old street and feast your eyes with amazing old antiques & workshops that’s still doing crafts old as the time itself. It felt like time travel to me.
My Journey didn’t end but I guess I’ll never end up in same place ever again. I’ll just follow my Heart to where it takes me & I’ll just keep moving forward.
