My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
India | Friday, July 5, 2013 | 5 photos
I have always dreamt of buying a Polaroid and walking through life capturing unexpected moments for complete strangers and handing them their photos as reminders of life’s subtle incredibleness. Growing up, the only moment that surpassed the excitement of being allowed to take a photo with dad’s camera was the moment we went to collect the developed photos. Because camera reels were expensive & the number of pictures limited, I’d plan the perfect photo long before I even let my finger hover over the ‘click’ button. To me, Dorothea Lange adequately sums up my love for photography when she so rightly states: "The camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera." I want to use photography to convey stories; to deeply engage people; to enchant; to challenge; to change the world. This scholarship would allow me to acquire the skills needed to realise these dreams. I thrive on adventure, connecting with people & conveying through ordinary lives and surroundings, completely extraordinary emotions and stories. This scholarship, I firmly believe, will convert photography as a hobby into something so much more meaningful and incredible.
