I don’t belong to any religious order, but if you had had the fortune to been born in a family that loves you, however the economical situation, you are blessed. This story takes place in a nuns’ house in the city of Morelia, Mexico. These girls since they were babies they were abandoned in an orphanage, and when the girls turn the age of 10 they are sent to different congregations so they can be protected and raised with special attention.
A daily routine for these girls is the same until they turn 16, then they need to jump into real life, get a job and become independent.
It was hard for me to take these pictures, the girls are protected, so the nuns didn´t allow me at the beginning, but after telling them my purpose they did. Since I return to my country (dec. 2010),I have been volunteering with them as an art teacher and the more that I know each girl, my anxiety to help them grows.
With these pictures I want to show to the world that this kind of situation exists around us and isn’t particularly from a country, is a worldwide situation, so my intention is to make a call to all the people to do one's bit.
I like to combine photography with cultural situations, human and animal rights, etc. from all around the world, and with this combination my goal is to give a big message through a simple image.
Photography is one of my passions, and I would take this learning experience in order to observe and analyze more my environment and being concrete with my photo objectives. My free spirit had given me wonderful experiences, so to learn from one the bests mentors, would be the first step to get into bigger photography projects in order to create something to make the people think and act.
