A Qash'qai girl cooks rice for dinner in front of her makeshift tent. Nomads make money by selling their herds, carpets, gabbeh or yoghurt drink in exhange for rice, clothes and other goods from the nearby towns or cities.

An 88 years old Qash'qai nomad lady makes gabbeh as she had done for many years for a living in Shiraz, Fars province, Iran. This is a painstaking task by hand and is also becoming a disappearing traditional trade as machine takes over.

A Qash'qai nomad lady gets ready to sleep under the stars in the mountains of Fars province, Shiraz, Iran. More and more nomads are opting for the comforts of urban life as life in the mountains can sometimes to hard due to the harsh winter conditions or blazing hot summers.
