Eighteen species of frogs and snakes were seen being traded. Here, a lady has been busy skinning frogs legs. These Chinese Bullfrogs (Hoplobatrachus rugulosus) are even sold alive, most likely used in soups. Unless these frogs are being commercially farmed, they will eventually decline in this area.

Early morning in Southern Vietnam we head to a local market to see what native wildlife is available to purchase for consumption. This market is situated close to U Minh Thuong National Park. The park has been flooded to prevent bushfires. This has forced many of the wildlife out into the surrounding farm lands where they are being poached for food. Not only are they sold at local markets but are also part of the demanding wildlife trade in China.

Many bags containing hundreds of snakes were on offer to purchase. Snakes are a delicacy in Vietnam and are seen on the menu in most local restaurants. The amount of snakes for sale could no way be sustainable and therefore this trade must be playing a huge impact on snake populations in this area.
