About etoile

Having grown up as a Third Culture Kid of European descent in mainland China, I have inevitably found myself acting as an ambassador for the places I have lived in and traveled to, as well as the to the cultures I have been a part of. My craving for exploration has lead me to travel extensively both on land and underwater throughout China and South East Asia, to places where few foreigners have been before. I have spent a significant amount time being immersed in a multitude of different cultures along with the natural systems that sustain them, and I have realised that I have a responsibility to protect. Photography for me is the most important part of journalism. It reaches people so powerfully and quickly. It is more visceral than writing, it creates an immediate connection. As a conservation photographer, I strive to document the natural undisturbed beauty of our  world, but also the devastating effects of its systematic destruction, ultimately using my images as a powerful conservation message.  I have never had any form of professional training. To be able to work alongside a world renowned photographer in the field would benefit my mission immensely.
