The start of something small

AUSTRALIA | Friday, 22 August 2008 | Views [533]

I've been home (yes, home) and have had the day off work today.  I'm pretty sick and have been for a good 32 hours so far. I won't go into the details but I feel like I've been back to Vietnam and the constant trips to the bathroom would make you think the same.  Unfortunately, I haven't; so dissapointing. Anyway, this time at home has got me thinking and this is what I've got to so far:

1) I am pretty much locked into staying in one spot at least until the 5th of December.  I say 'locked in' because I have a great job that I love and they are willing to pay me to do fun things until the start of December.

2) I really want to travel.  I don't like feeling like I'm locked in, even if I know deep down that this is a good decision.

3) I am missing something here...my attitude or my perspective on this just isn't right.

Then it dawns on me.  There are millions of visitors to this town each year...some even call it a city (gasp!).  They make the most of what is here.  They see the sights.  They explore the parks and galleries.  They go to the festivals.  Why don't I?

So my project for now is to be a tourist, well a working tourist, in this homebase of mine.  I will make the most of this town/city.  I will explore and seek and touch and taste...erm, well I will explore.  I will document my sojourn so that others can see what gems are to be uncovered. I wonder what adventures await me?...once I stop needing to be 10 steps from the nearest bathroom...
