After being introduced to a darkroom when I was 15 years old, I have never looked back to a life without photography. By 21, I had pursued my dream and graduated from the Design & Photography program at Grant MacEwan University located in Edmonton, AB. Ever since, I’ve been on the constant pursuit for my next photographic experience – camera in hand. I have never allowed myself to limit my range of photography. I’ve been involved with various charities, helicopter tours, and music festivals. Although, I always seem to be drawn back to my true passion – Travelling.
In April 2011, I travelled to Cuba. I have always had a fascination with Che Guevara, Fidel Castro and the unforgettable Revolution. Cuba is currently in a state of major economic transition, now allowing citizens to open small, private businesses - And more recently, the ability to buy and sell property. For some citizens, they cannot remember a life without communism. Experiencing and documenting Cuba during this pivotal shift, I sensed hope, community, love and opportunity. These emotions and the people of Cuba inspired me greatly and it was translated through my photos.
In my eyes, photography is a continuous learning experience. It allows me to see new countries, meet new faces, and do my best to justify the beauty within this vast world that astounds me more and more every day. I would be so grateful for the opportunity to be guided by Jason Edwards on this life-changing journey. My deep desire to travel and document is something I will always go after. All over the world, there are stories to be told, voices to be heard and greatness to be seen.
