Getting ready

Our backpacks and the small, but growing, pile of stuff to pack.

Our backpacks and the small, but growing, pile of stuff to pack.

Well, the packing for Thailand has begun in earnest!  It's only in the last few days that we've started getting truely excited.  Before that there was Carrie's winter concert, and my omnipresent school work to distract us.

We leave Eugene on Thursday, will stay at my mom's that night, then on to SeaTac Friday morning.  The first day's in Bangkok, then north to Chiang Mai and the Golden Triangle for about 8-10 days, then heading to Cambodia to see Angkor Wat for a couple, next to one of the islands between Cambodia and Bangkok (Ko Kut?) for a few, then two more in Bangkok.  But, we're backpacking, so our plans could change quite a bit depending on how we feel.

As usual, the process of packing is more complicated than we'd anticipated. Yesterday, our hallway light fixture starting leaking water. Here's the problem: we're not supposed to have a cat, so I have to move Emory over to a friend's apartment before our landlord comes to look at it. So, because I'll need to hang out with him at my friend's place, most of my afternoon is shot. Crap.

Anyway, I had better get to work. We'll try to keep this up-to-date during our trip, but we don't want to spend too much of our time hunched over computers in some internet cafe, so we can't guarantee anything.

Cheers,
E&C
