After The Harvest
This series is close to home because I live 3 minutes from Amish country and with respect comes privilege.
My Scholarship entry - After The Harvest

As a pacific islander born in Guam, I have lived stateside since I was 4. I now live in Fort Wayne Indiana and have been trying to get my work 'out there' as a fine art photographer. I've entered online contests and won a few, I've been one artist in several group shows at a local gallery but I had felt I needed to take my work to the next level. Last year I applied for a grant and entered into the individual artist category. It was a $2000 grant I was sure I wouldn't get, I was wrong. Out of the possible 100 points and out of 137 applicants across several disciplines, there were only 38 chosen and I received a 94/100. I had the highest score. My grant proposal was about shooting the night sky or nightscapes and is due in late June of 2015. This opportunity would help me get my work seen in the photographic community. It would also help me get my work seen in my own community. I am completely self-taught and to receive this opportunity would help me in gaining more knowledge on this path I have been forging over the last 5 years. I consider myself a semi-pro amateur fine art photographer and winning this opportunity would be a great next step in my journey. Nothing ventured, nothing gained!
