Photography lives in every cell of my body. It is my second skin. When I look through the viewfinder and watch the moments come together to capture that perfect photo, I feel it in my bones. And it just feels right. This is what I should be, need to be, spending my life doing. To me taking pictures feels like the first time you finally get to kiss the girl of your dreams. And I am lucky enough to experience this every time I shoot.

Every experience in our lives helps shape the person we are and the person we will become. Every day my life evolves and with every change I evolve as a photographer. Traveling has opened my eyes and helped me grow as a person and as an artist. It’s helped me capture the faces of new people and share their stories with others who will never have the chance to meet them.

I’ve used the word “professional” to describe myself, with the belief that you fake it til you make it. But I’ve never been able to sustain myself on just a career as a photographer. I know in my heart this scholarship would without a doubt, bring me closer to realizing my dream and the one thing that I can never live without – capturing photos and sharing stories through my eyes.
