The bat must have smelled like nectar, causing the butterfly to do a dance of death around him. After a couple of missed left and right hooks (literally!), the butterfly left unscathed and the bat resumed his vampire-like pose then dozed off. - My Scholarship entry - Magical Human-Animal Connections - Japan
