My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

All my life I have grown up on a dairy farm. As I grew older, so did my curiosity about animals, people, places. I moved away to study photography at university, something I had always dreamt of doing since receiving my first camera one birthday, and quickly became immersed in the city lifestyle. I didn’t come home for almost 8 months and I finally did, I saw things differently – just how special my little farm was, how beautiful it was. It made me realise that it really is worth taking the time to appreciate every single place you visit, because there is always beauty to be found. Thus my desire to travel was rekindled, and it is with a renewed sense of vigour that I apply for this scholarship – I want to learn all that I can, not just photographically but in a sense that you take something away from every experience in life you go through. I feel I will gain a lot from an opportunity such as this, and am willing to learn, re-learn, and practice everything. I feel the photographic community is in need of truth again, far removed from its commercial consumerism, and I want to be able to convey truthfully everything I see and do through my work.
