Seville

SPAIN | Friday, 29 August 2014 | Views [268]

I'd organised a blablacar from granada to seville that morning so I bid farewell to the girls and headed to my ride..I was meeting him at his house, which just so happened to be in the albaycin so it was unbelievably hard to climb up there with my bags! Steep stairs..'twas a challenge for my tired legs! Made it there, turned out he was a really nice British guy with a 4 year old kid he'd had with a Spanish lady (not sure where she was...). We headed off, he and his kid were going to lagos Portugal to visit his parents, who'd retired there..it was nice having an English speaking driver this time!
We arrived in the outskirts of seville a few hours later..he'd planned to meet his next passengers at ikea..so I walked around for quite a while and finally found a bus station going in the right direction..got dropped off far from my hostel so more walking! And I stupidly hadn't figured out the exact directions so wondered around lost for a little while in over 40C heat..finally found the hostel and had a lie down for a bit..met a really cool Asian Aussie girl called Tracy and we went in to the town to explore..so beautiful! The cathedral was all lit up and there were horses and carriages and cobblestones..very medieval :) stumbled across a group of guys busking original Spanish music..they were awesome and we chatted to them and found out they were Uni students..we were going to go see a flamenco show but I was much happier with the jovial performance we found :) I also found an Irish admirer lol, an older man who was obviously fond of my red hair :P
Next day I did some sight seeing, beginning with walking along the river and seeing the impressive water tower..then headed in to town for another peek at the cathedral..there was also an ancient palace, Alcazar, a smaller version of Alhambra, but I didn't want to pay to go in..I went and saw the Spanish square which was surrounded by water and absolutely beautiful.. headed back to the hostel to grab my bags..I left my boots and some clothes next to a bin because I couldn't find a donation bin and I'd been carrying them around all day :S met Christina, my blablacar ride (who I'd eventually organised after she'd had a cancellation), and we left for lisbon! I was lucky as another person hadn't showed up for the trip, I don't think my bag would've fit in the 2 door car otherwise! My drivers (it was her and either her brother or boyfriend, not sure) were really lovely Spanish people on holidays..we reach lisbon in about 4/5 hours and they were kind enough to drop me right at my hostel :) which was super cool..very colorful..apparently lisbon always wins hostel awards..met my Brazilian roommate Jessica then found a supermarket before having an early night..
