The story behind this recipe
when i was little girl, every summer i was living in the village with my grandparents. they had their own farm. so, we always had home milk and eggs, and grandmother made home cottage cheese and butter. when i was living there, grandmother always baked pies for us: with black currant or with eggs and onions leek or with apple jam. but my favourite dalicacy was the cake with banana, chocolate and cottage cheese.
i got up early in the mornings, went to the distant shop to buy two chokolate bars named 'Alyonka' (this is russian female name) and one banana. brought it to grandma and asked her to make the cake. grandmother baked it for me with pleasure. i remember, when i came home from the garden, the house was filled with sweet wonderful aroma of the cake. i so strongly loved it! then grandma asked me to pick some berries for brunch. i brought the most ripe fruits: strawberries, gooseberries, plums and raspberries. the cake was given on a wooden board and then grandma served pieces of the cake on the plates with berries or some jam. at the time we didn't have a blender so granny used to cut a banana into small bits that I felt in my mouth later when the pie was ready. i especially loved it. we ate it with milk or with some compote.
i would not say that this cake is the most tasty meal i have ever eaten. but i loved it so much when i was younger, and that is why it touches my soul and it means a lot to me. and i very appreciate my grandmother for it.
now i don't make this cake, because it's very high-calorie. in this time i served it with smashed cranberries with sugar. because, the sweet taste of chocolate dough is perfectly combined with sour cranberries.
