An absolutely surreal view from Machu Picchu is shared with pride by our Quechuan guide as he talks about the Urubamba River, the formation of the Andes Mountains and the importance of this archaeological site to the history of his ancestors and the people of Peru.

In Maras, Peru, a subterranean saltwater stream flows from a spring and is directed into these salt pans through an intricate system of channels. Salt is then harvested in a slow and tedious process of evaporation and crystallization.

In Auguas Calientes, two street dogs remain outside the church peering in while the rest of the pack playfully chase each other around within the confines of the sanctuary.
