To tell the truth, all three topics are very suit for my travel story. My big adventure - because I was just 18 when I have done the journey in so big city as London. Responsible Travel - because I have done this travel alone. But I have chosen the topic - Journey in an Unknown Culture. It is the reality of my greate trip.
When I decided to do my journey to London I knew exactly that it would not be a usual trip with classic excursion and sightseeing. I wanted to become acquainted with people, society and culture. I knew exactly I don’t want just to see the buildings and museums and look around with standard travel guide. I realized that all travelers thought that a good travel-is when you see a lot of famous buildings, streets, museums, etc. I decided for myself that the real city is people, people who live there. They are real London.
So, first of all I decided-no hotels. I didn’t want to be as usual traveler. And I found people who rent me a little room in their big house. And it was great. I lived with a group of young students from all over the world - New Zealand, Brasilia, Spain, Russia, Greece, Cape Verde, Turkey, Albania, Hong Kong and Portugal. And I realized it was really that I was looking for. I found a people who had their own background and own outlook on everything. I had walks and talks with my new friends. And everybody opened me London from different sides. Different ways, stories about London, different outlooks on the same things, buildings, parts of history, political situation.
I saw there are a lot of emigrants in London and they never feel themselves bad or alone or like foreigner. All are the same. And everybody support each other.
People from all over the world.
And together, they have built a new culture.
Unknown.
But the culture where all are equal. Where all traditions respect. And I think it’s the biggest achievement.
Now I am sure London is the city-example for all another cities.
In my memory, in my mind, in my heart London always will be as the city of a lot of different nationalities, mentalities, cultures and backgrounds. Different stories and traditions what everybody take with when he or she moves. Now London is so international city that nobody knows how much different cultures are there. It is the detail of personal life.
London is a great. A lot of old and modern buildings, famous museums, big beautiful parks, streets, roads. But if you just have walks and see everything of that, even with the most experienced guide you will know only the structure, but not the city, you will never feel it, you will never understand the spirit of London – the city of unknown culture.
I am sure it is the most useful trip – the trip where the details are quality of people that are building the city, the culture and our life.
