Kuala Lumpur’s National Mosque: A Symbol of Malaysia

About elisafisher

The unknown and unfamiliar fascinate me. I feel driven to discover places, meet people, and have experiences that that are new and foreign to the world I have known thus far. I also have the deep desire to capture these things through the art of photography, which allows me to present to the world what life, whether beautiful or grim, is like for certain people.

I loved art as a child, became more involved with it in high school, and in May 2012 received my BFA in studio art with a photography emphasis. Although I appreciate conceptual photography, my various experiences in 19 countries have confirmed that my dream is to combine my passions for photography and traveling. I believe that my background in fine art gives me a unique perspective in my attempts at documentary photography. I know about composition, lighting, the history of photography, etc; and I have analyzed the work of photojournalists, but one can only learn so much through observation. The opportunity to shadow a National Geographic photographer on-assignment would propel me to new levels of understanding about all the aspects of being a travel photographer and would be an invaluable step towards launching my career.
