About elgringomugroso

This is a journey from Northern Mexico to the southern reaches of South America buy bus, boat, plane, on foot our whatever mode of transportation that gets me from point A to B. A trip several years in the making;  I began this trip in early April of 2009 but only got as far as La Ceiba, Honduras because I had to return home to say goodbye to my mother who passed away May 18 of that year. I had planned to leave again the following year but my father was diagnosed with cancer and had to stay for him (family first).  He fought the cancer for 2 years until passing away February of this year (2012). It´s naturally a bittersweet feeling for me that I can take my trip but at the same time 2 very important people are not here for me to share it with them.

One thing that I want to focus on during this trip is spending more time outdoors in nature.  I love photography and I love being outside.  I don´t care for history as much as I used to (with the exception of Pre-Colombian history), so I plan to spend a better portion of the trip close to the sea or in the mountains and jungles of Central and South America; with an emphasis on the Carribean coasts of Central America, La Mosquitia (Honduras), the Andes Mountains of Western South America and the Amazon basin.  I can`t lie and say that I`ll pass up a party if the opportunity presents itself with me being a part-time alcoholic.
