My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
New Zealand | Thursday, January 10, 2013 | 5 photos
Hello. My name is Edi. I'm a 29 years old male from Indonesia. I have been living a nomadic life since I finished high school in Sumatra: Five years in Jakarta studying and working, one year in Bali working, two years in Wellington, New Zealand studying and working. Traveling has been part of my life and through traveling I also met photography.
Having lived in New Zealand for two years, I realize that realizing a dream is not an easy job to do. We need to understand sometimes the passion doesn't always go along together with career. We need to make a living but we shall not forget what our passion is.
I truly believe photography is a media to tell a story. If I'm chosen, I want to show the people in my city how traveling can actually give them something to think about in life. Indonesia is the third world country. Most people don't really care about finding their passion as long as they can make a living which is already difficult. Traveling has changed my life, and I want to tell my stories. I want to pay it forward.
I consider myself as a late bloomer. But I haven't regretted any single day since I knew what I wanted to do in my life. And I'm lucky to be able to do it.
