Actually, Capt. Cook missed the mouth of Milford Sound (Fiord) FIVE times. I wasn't discovered for 50 years after his last expedition.

This area normally gets up to 35 ft of rain a year and it rains an average of 200 days a year. It hadn't rained in 10 days prior to this so the waterfalls were a bit anemic.
