My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

I have had the opportunity to travel to Europe a number of times while I was in college studying Industrial design. But since I left college I have been unable to get full time work so I haven't been able to travel out of Ireland. I then started to look towards photography as a new occupation, as even from a young age I had always had an interest in photography. So if I was to be successful and get the scholarship it would be the perfect start to get a new career and it would be my first experience travelling outside of Europe. Also I would like the opportunity to show people what it’s like to see the world from my eyes.

As for the group of photos I have uploaded, they came from a Sunday where my girlfriend was down in my house and I wanted to do something interesting. So I went on the internet to see if there was anything close to us that we could do for the day and I came across a place only 40mins away called eagles flying, which was located in Ballymote, Co.Sligo Ireland. So after a road trip through roads that where less then smooth or straight we got there. After we arrived we had a walk around and there was a petting zoo where there were some goats and donkeys which passed our time until the main show. Then we sat down were the trainers discussed what was going to happen but it didn’t prepare us for how close the birds were going to get. It was amazing seeing these large birds of prey flying over our heads and sometimes landing just behind us. This allowed me to get some nice shots of the birds, not only close up but in flight.
