My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

When I was 4 years old I packed a pink plastic suitcase and informed my parents I was going to spend the night across the street at our neighbor's house. I simply needed them to watch me cross the street as I was not allowed to do so alone. I cannot recall why I decided to do this but I never wanted to go home and that feeling continues to this day. In high school, I took my first photography class. We were give Pentax K1000 cameras and taught how to develop our own film and images. Still my K1000 is my constant travel companion, giving me the ability to capture and share what I experience. My photography education continues at San Francisco City College. Earlier this year I was fortunate enough to meet Lou Dematteis, a photojournalist who’s been helping me with my portfolio. I’m working actively to exit the career I’ve fallen into and jump into one I can love. My photography is a side venture right now but I hope to bring to the spotlight. This scholarship would be an incredible opportunity for me to learn from a professional and have an amazing experience, but to get my images out there for the public to see and help my professional career.
