I Once Woke Up in France

I graduated from a management course in one of the top business universities in my country. I work as a Finance Analyst in the Coca-Cola corporation. I have never taken a single class related to photography. In fact the only credentials I can claim to have are that I actually own a camera.
However, I have the gall to call myself a photographer. Yes I do! Simply because one day, as an 11 year old kid visiting the United States, my father handed me the camera to hold for a while, and the first thing I did was to head over to a bunch of flowers, lie flat on my belly, and snap a picture of my family framed by rosebuds. From that day, I proudly consider myself a photographer. True, it will take a lot more than a sentimental shot to convince anyone (sometimes even myself) that photography is the way to go; that I should leave my very stable job, in which little risks are involved, to dive into a world of color, bright lights and uncertainty. Still, I believe that even as that kid who dirtied himself by a bunch of plants, I knew the truth: this is all photography stands for - capturing that fraction of a moment to paint everlasting smiles on the faces of those around us.
