My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I’m a 19-year-old University student from Australia studying International Relations majoring in Peace and Conflict Studies. My innovative and creative nature is evident in my interests, which include writing, public speaking, performing, reading and travelling. I’m definitely an amateur photographer but I have a willingness to learn and improve my skills. I love that a photo can convey a message and impact the viewer and that’s what I want to do with my photos; I’m willing to go outside my comfort zone to achieve this. To see my photography shared around the world and for people to have a sense of wonder and awe from it would be incredibly humbling for me. Given this scholarship opportunity my ultimate goal would be to continue learning the art of photography and improving my skills so that, through photography, I could introduce people to and educate them about places they may never get to see themselves. It’s better to look back on life and say: “I can’t believe I did that” than to look back and say “I wish I did that”. This, combined with my own personal experience and development, is the reason I decided to put in my application for the National Geographic Oman Scholarship.
