Easter in Rome

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited - Rome at Easter

Italy | Friday, January 4, 2013 | 5 photos

My name is Dan Redrup and i live in London, England. I have been collecting images as a hobby from my camera's sensor for the past ten years, concentrating mainly on street photography but also editorial and sports. I enjoy capturing the mundane day to day life in my city, and trying to expose those fleeting moments that pass by our eyes each and every hour, which we usually ignore or forget about far too quickly. Colour combinations or geometric patterns formed by people and their environments. This is what excites me about this medium of photography, allowing me to stop motion and having the power in my hands to tell a story in anything from 1/2000 to 3 seconds, It is immense. That resulting image can divide opinion or unite every set of eyes that see's it thereafter.

I believe this scholarship comes at a very important time in my existence, as I am in the transition of trying to change career paths from being a post production film colourist, which i have been doing for 12 years, and follow my dream as a Photojournalist. Being able to do this under the tutelage of National geographic and Jason Edwards on location would be a dream come true and would help me evolve my art.
