My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Iceland | Monday, January 14, 2013 | flickr photos
I've been a full-time university student four of the past five years and will graduate in a few months. My passion began three years ago when I went on a road trip around Australia with friends from Germany. I realised that I loved to take photos, but at the same time knew I wasn't all that good at that point. From then on I've constantly tried to improve the way I shoot and how I see the world.
There's always something that can be done better, maybe the photo should've been taken with an extra third-stop of light, a faster shutter speed, or I could've shot from another spot. It's the challenge of getting the best result from an often fleeting moment that makes me love photography. You remember the work it took to get the shot and I find that very satisfying.
Most of what I shoot is live events so I'm constantly on my toes looking for something to capture. I've interned for Time Out Sydney; freelanced for Fairfax and Sydney Festival while studying.
I'd love to become a full-time professional and I believe I'm good enough. I know it's hard work, but it's work I want to do with the ultimate goal of becoming a well-respected photographer.
