My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
India | Monday, January 14, 2013 | 5 photos
Why am I passionate about photography? I want to capture images of life in a natural and simple way. I appreciate the beauty and simplicity of places and faces: young and old, happy or troubled... innocent.
I had s photo exhibit from my travels. Someone said, "You go to these places where life is hard, people are poor, the landscape is harsh and your pictures make it the most beautiful place." That encouraged me! I started to challenge myself more, got a 35mm camera, used prime lenses to improve my compositional skills, made quick decisions on what is important to show, how to present the situation better. These things made me think differently before pressing the shutter, making the photograph right in the camera. I took a workshop on storytelling, where I learned new aspects and things I was lacking. I wanted to improve, how to create emotional, visually appealing documentary style photographs.
Telling stories through photographs is an exciting and effective way for me to communicate my unique experience of the world. These are my reasons for seeking to learn, assist and contribute to the Oman assignment. This experience would help me to take my passion to the next level.
