Landing in the land down under

Day 1   Tomorrow
X base hostel
Brisbane, Queensland
On the 14 hour plane ride over, I watched on the Australian news coverage about the arrival of the queen. Had I arrived two days earlier (or on U.S. time) I would have tried to be where she was, so I could catch a wave from royalty on my first day in oz. As it was there was no queen to welcome me.There was however a lovely traveler from Switzerland named Martina. Martina had the uncanny timing of befriending me right at the moment that the massive weight of distance between me and everything I know and love, came down on me. Thanks by the way Martina.  My first evening in Australia climbed up  from there With dinner in a lively hostel, pizza, australian beer (More about the beer to come later) and the company of a lovely gay couple from Tasmania over here on business. The weather here is lovely, but I think the hustle and bustle of the city is not my cup of tea at the moment. Instead I will shove off in search of beautiful beaches.
Cheers from down under..
Christy
