Meet tradional Germany - Bavaria

GERMANY | Thursday, 8 May 2014 | Views [148] | Scholarship Entry

If you want to experience real Germany, Bavaria is the perfect choice. Normally, people go there in late September for Oktoberfest, but my story starts in early December - time of wonderful Weihnachtsmärkte.
Captured with the charming Christmas atmosphere we visited all the markets nearby, made lots of funny pictures there and completed small sightseeing tour including Marienplatz with famous Rathaus (and the clock on it started its show right when we passed by - amazing coincidence), Frauenkirche and, surely, original Munich Kneipe.
The last one became the key point of Munich trip itself! I could not imagine a bar with this long benches and tourists all over the world sitting together and chatting. It seemed like they do not really understand each other's language, but this spirit of true Germany united them somehow.
Although I cinsider the place pretty touristic, locals also were there and you could easily distinguish them with their pride (in good sense) showed even in appearance. Meeting a guy in Lederhosen (traditional German leather trousers) in Munich is not that special.
The most astonishing thing I have seen so far in Germany can be found an hour on a regional train away from Munich - near the station of Fuessen. Well, I should mention that was the first time I saw the real castle, so I was super-impressed and mostly behaved like a child who accidentally got straight into its dream. Castle is called Neuschwanstein - New Swan Stone, and is built on a mountain. The castle on outside and inside as well is a masterpiece of art. It is said that Paris Disney castle was designed after this one.
The day we got there was snowy (and happy Russian girl got her first real snow) and a little bit windy, what we felt later up on the mountain. The real adventure strted there, on the mountain, when my friend and I wished to make a perfect shoot. For that we needed Mary's bridge, which was closed cause of icy road. But can this stop Russians? Surely not. We passed by the danger signs, climbed up the slipper mountain trail and got there. But! The bridge was all covered with ice, it is narrow and hangs between 2 mountains. Making shoots was not easy at all as we did our best not to be gone with the wind. Curious fact, there were some more crazy people, but all of them were Russian. The view from there is stunning, so, guys, no idea how crazy you are, but this is must-do!
Of course Bavaria has more to offer. It waits for you to come and explore!
