My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

I am a Telecomunications graduate and recently employed in this field, but my main interests have been for the past couple of years people and photography. As years have gone, i became more and more interested in the life of simple people, unatached to all these stuff supposed to make our life easier, and whose life seems to go at a very different pace then my life and the life of most people living in the big cities. Time seems to flow differently for them, and although a person might feel compasionate after a while you realize it is more likely you are more unfortunate then them. After i realised this, i began to search for these people and document their life before they would be integrated in this globalised world. I have documented them mostly in my own country, from Dogrogea to Maramures but not only, also in Turkey, Egypt and India. In most of these comunities there is a sense of confusion as they open up to the world, and they need to open up because they need money and jobs.
The I am presenting is about Dobrogea and its' people, an area that is secluded, harsh, extremely poor but still remains beautifull. Ethnically it is the most diverse area of Romania with romanians, bulgarians, lippovans, turks, tatars and greeks all living together and drawing influnces to this land. People living here are simple and harsh , and just like their land they are contradictory: joyfull and sad at the same time. Inspite their poverty and without trying to romanticize, i feel their lives are beatifull, the beauty lying in their simple lives.
I belive the people of Bhutan are just like that and i will do my best to present the beauty of their lifes to the world, if i am chosen.
