My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Colombia | Sunday, January 13, 2013 | 5 photos

I’m Daniel Ortiz, a 22 years old Venezuelan guy who loves human creativity, arts, sciences, cultures and adventure. I’m composer, pianist and a biology student and at the same time I work in an art gallery in Caracas. All my passions converge in travel photography; the artistic composition, nature and cultures are completely fused. Photography is just like music, it enables me to create stories without using words. My interests in photojournalism and adventure have begun in 2007, when I won a scholarship to participate in the Ruta Quetzal (Quetzal Route). This is a program supported by UNESCO and allows young people around the world to travel and discover human dimensions, geography and history of other cultures. The scholarship gave me the experience of backing and photographing Mexico, Spain, Panama and Colombia and also learning about the cultures of those countries. These trips have completely changed the way I see life. During these experiences several associations have organized amateur photography contests and I have had the chance to win first place in two of them. I am a passionate guy, committed, and able to take full advantage of all learning opportunities offered to me.
