This is a pond in the middle of the city with a building in the middle. It is obviously a tribute to something or someone.

The structure in the centre of the pond is not a memorial for someone as u wud think.It is a "teppakulam", a tamil word for the Tank.
The Teppakulam is a large artificial tank . It is the site of the annual Float festival. The tank has a flight of stone steps and a very picturesque shrine in the middle.

A castle built on a rock. Within the rock there had been carved out a couple of Hindu temples into which non-Hindus were not allowed. There was also a temple at the top of the castle and although non-believers were not allowed there they didn't police it and I didn't know. The temple on the top of the palace wasn't very attractive but the view was good.
