Travel Photography Scholarship 2012 Entry - The Fishy Side of Hoi An

I'm currently working as an English teacher in Hanoi, Vietnam. Although I do find some satisfaction in my job, I always have this need to escape the daily grind and just be free. I always count the days to my next vacation when I get to travel to a new place.

I love cities with character, places with so much more to offer than buildings and comfort. As much as I enjoy taking photos of scenery, I'm more drawn to taking photos of everyday life in the city because it's quite a challenge to step into another person's world and compose a picture without being intrusive.

I love taking photos. I forget everything when I have a camera. Whether I'm walking or waddling along a shoreline filled with rotten fish or on the back of a motorbike, I'm just focused on getting the perfect angle or satisfying this artistic need to take a photo. In fact, I've almost fallen off my boyfriend's motorbike, trying to frame a shot.

I believe that this opportunity should be my next step in travel photography - working with a pro in the Middle East. And, taking me on board would mean that you'd be working with someone who would do everything to bring in the best pictures and day to day accounts.
