My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Ecuador | Friday, July 5, 2013 | 5 photos

Since I was a kid I have always wanted to be apart of the world of animals. With the help of my Dad, I would make animal claws, fins or wings so that I could swim, leap or fly like they did. When I was fifteen I discovered the camera as a way to connect with the natural world and instantly realized that I wanted to be a wildlife photographer. Learning from, and traveling through Greenland with an experienced professional will help my person and my photography evolve. I will put the skills I learn from this towards creating photography that beckons viewers into a connection with wildlife so that they gain a personal understanding of it. Natural History camera man Robert Brown made me realize that it is this understanding which gives the compassion needed to live with and protect the natural world. This desperately needs to be awoken in us because I believe that evolution through the natural world has bound us to it, in a way that means our lives will be less rich without it.

I am determined, passionate and have an eye for photography. However all entrants have this. What sets me apart is my ambition. I want to make the most of my life by changing the world through photography.
