My Scholarship entry -The story of human intervention

United Kingdom | Sunday, January 13, 2013 | 5 photos

I have a BA in Photographic Arts. Friendly, hardworking, levelheaded and love to travel and experience new things. The opportunity to travel with Nat Geo would be a life changing experience and a privilege. Being mentored would be valuable for me to improve especially on my technical skills, in return create images which attract people to reflect on human experience, perceptually and emotionally.

Volunteer at my local wildlife rehabilitation centre, to help animals no longer able to survive in the wild. Traveled to South Africa to study Safari Field Guiding which was a fantastic experience for me. I got to photograph and learn about the wildlife and environments they inhabit. Some parts got me out of my comfort zone, which I think is valuable in order to grow and progress.

I enjoy editing photographic work, the process is therapeutic in a way, it helps my ideas come together and strengthens what I want to communicate. For me, using photography as a medium enables me to communicate my thoughts and feelings of a subject much more than my words ever can.
This scholarship suits both my personality and interests and I hope I’m considered to join the National Geographic team.
