I'm Filip Grzincic, 28 years old and I live Rijeka, Croatia. Since my mom got our first compact digital camera as a present I fell in love with photography and began to explore it, and I still do today with my SLR. One of the greatest power of photography to me, is being able to capture a certain moment, an unique motive, and show it to the rest of the world. I work at Croatia incoming travel agency and combining my work with my photography, I enjoy taking photographs of my country, of the people, landscapes and special places like the one I will present you in this contest. In the future, I would like to do more, I want to travel around the globe in search of unique places that need help and need to be shown to the rest of the world. I used this opportunity to introduce you with the Eco Centre ''Caput Insulae'' situated in Beli on the island of Cres, Croatia. Not far where I live, a group of very persistent volunteers is making miracles. Almost completely unsupported by local and state governments and with an enviable number of international acknowledgements, they made so many world recognized projects of which the most famous is recovery centre for the Eurasian Griffons. Around 100 couples are nesting on the island of Cres and due many different causes they get injured or young ones fall into the sea. Volunteers rescue them, recover, ring them and release them back to freedom. Now they are on verge of closing down due to financial problems. No matter of results of this contest, I have done my goal to present you this wonderful project. Shooting motives like this is driving me to do much more as it is really rewarding when I reach to someone with my photographs and know I have done a good thing doing what I trully like the most - taking photographs.
