My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

My aim with the camera is to faithfully yet artfully record scenes with which a viewer can empathize, and hopefully, respond to at an emotional level. If they learn a thing or two about the subjects in my photographs, or how I achieved the shot, all the better. Sharing my work with a broad audience has been, and continues to be my dream. I would like to document the places where I travel, and accompany my pictures with essays about my experiences. I don’t know yet if that means being a travel writer, a photojournalist or a staff photographer. Working through this scholarship would no doubt help clear up this puzzle for me.
I do not think I can fully express how much being mentored by a photographer the caliber of Jason Edwards would mean to me. Beyond exposure to the technical aspects of shooting professionally, I would be able to observe, for the first time, a person who has been able to turn a passion we both share into a vocation. The intangible benefits of his insight and real world experience in the photography business are incalculable. I am sure I can reap huge rewards from the experience, whether I ultimately become a professional photographer or not.
