Africa! Tales from Tanzania!

Arusha

I live about 10 minutes outside of Arusha town. I take either a dalladalla which is a minibus packed with people for about 30 cents or a taxi to get to town.  We have a shoprite so that is where we go for supplies and snacks.  Other than that there are markets to buy fruit and gifts... which of course is my fav because I bargain like noneother and I now bargain for all the girls with me. I could shop everyday!!!  Arusha is a good size, lots smaller than Accra, Ghana. People are so friendly and its pretty safe. We never walk or go out at night without a taxi though. There are dance clubs and really cheap but great restauants. Arusha is a big tourist town since we are close to everything. I would recommend it for sure tho!!

Dear Adventure Girl: We are so excited that you are having a good time. Bob says hello. This week I talked to your mom, your dad, and your boyfriend. :-) I have invited your photographer man to visit us at church and stay for lunch some Sunday. Everything is good here. I've done nothing exciting except work, go to church, visit the grocery store, and sort recycling! All is well. Oh, and Amiee sent me a card this week that made me laugh so hard I literally hurt my stomach, really. Had to lie down on the couch for ten minutes to recover. It was just like the time you got stuck on the rocks in my driveway. Yes, laughing THAT hard. Will share the story with you when you are home. :-) Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. Remember how much we love you. - Jenne

Wow Derski! So far everything you have seen and done sounds amazing to me. I still can't believe you are there. I know that you are enjoying every minute of this adventure and I can't wait to talk to you about everything when you come home...if you decide to lol :)

Sitting here in my living room I look out the window at dirty snow and below zero temperatures and wish that I was with you. I am so proud of you for pursuing your 'african dream' b/c I know it's not easy to go to a totally unfamiliar place by yourself. Again, I'm so glad that everything is fantastic in Tanzania, and I look forward to reading more! I am so lucky to have such a special, caring, and compassionate friend. You rock girl!
