My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Libya | Monday, July 1, 2013 | 5 photos
I am willing to go any and everywhere photography is needed to illustrate a story in a creative, truthful and thought provoking way. I am willing to dive to the deepest depths, climb to the highest altitudes and even travel to the most hostile and austere locations on the globe and remain there for as long as it takes enduring whatever I have to in order to get the shots and stories needed to enlighten and raise the collective consciousness of humanity. I know this may sound sensational however, these are not just words on a piece paper. This is the promise engraved in my heart, words I live by and willing to die by should it come to that. After the deaths of Tim Hetherington and Chris Hondros, I was deeply moved to pick up the torch and continue the marathon of visual journalism they made the ultimate sacrifice to bring into the consciousness of the masses. I believe so strongly in positive social change that I was willing to reallocate money designated to pay my rent to purchase a ticket to Cairo, Egypt and drive 16 hours across the desert into a country where I knew no one and put my life on the line to bring the truth to the masses.
