My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

I'm not sure what exactly to write to grab your attention, I suppose I should try the truth, I'm 43 years old with a wife and four kids. I have had loads of jobs that I don't very much like for years but what makes the work worth while apart from the obvious, family life etc. is when I get my camera out and start creating great images, or least what I call great images, I have tried for several years to get started on the professional ladder but it's hard to get a chance to show what I can do, I know my eye for an image is good but what I need is the tips and advice that you can show me, and the exposure of taking and having photos published by such a fantastic organisation as National Geographic, I know that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for someone in my position but this could be the exact thing I need to get noticed and may just open the doors that I need opened to start getting work as a photographer. I would give my right arm for this chance, well maybe not my arm cause I would have trouble holding my camera, but you know what I mean. Even if I don't win I'm still happy because the competition made me go out and try to tell a story in pictures which I found very interesting, I took loads of pictures but in the end went with the story of a boy(my son) over-coming a fear of heights which he did, I hope you enjoy the story, thanks for reading, bye for now, Derek Keogh.
