Mothers' Day #2

Mothers’ Day … again.

This time for Mothers’ Day I am in Leerdam – a smallish town in Holland famous for its glass production. My ‘cycling through the tulips’ trip was cancelled because of bad weather (something I’m becoming frustratingly used to) so instead we visited the Leerdam glass exhibition where you can watch glass blowers at work. We stayed for 1½ hours but I swear it was the most mesmerising thing, I could have watched it all day.

I then had dinner with my Dutch host family. The mother was a lovely Australian so it was nice to spend Mothers’ Day with an Aussie Mum albeit not MY Aussie Mum and, if the truth be told, my Mother is French anyway but that’s beside the point. It was so comforting to spend a family day with a wonderful family. It made me all the more excited to be heading off to France tomorrow to see my French family. Vive la France!
