So ... I've just completed the month long intensive at Shakespeare & Company and when they say intensive, they're not kidding. But unfortunately kiddies, what happens in intensive, stays in intensive so I can't reveal any of the more juicy goss like ... just kidding!
The course was situated in picturesque Lenox, MA and can I just say, when people dream about a White Christmas, this is the town they're thinking of. When I arrived the Christams decorations were still up and the entire place was covered in a thick layer of snow. For a chick from far North Queensland, Australia - this was the stuff dreams are made! I was so excited, I couldn't wait for it to snow again.
Another Australian who was attending the course and myself met up on that first day and delighted in our new found toy ... SNOW! We set about doing all those things we'd only ever seen on tv. First - make a snowman. Sadly our knowledge of snow was so lacking that we didn't realise there were different types ... snow that packs, snow that is slushy and snow that is, well, just ice really. As you may have guessed our snow did not pack neatly into balls ready for snowman building, it was basically slushy ice so our first attempt, which I'm pretty sure I've included in the photos, was quite appalling. Better attempts did follow. By the time the snow was able to be packed, thrown and sculptured we were so deeply into our 'intensive' that we had little time for the joys of snow and more appreciation for snow boots, scarves and winter jackets.
I am starting to get the swing of ... put on a heap of clothes, underclothes, socks, boots, scarves, gloves, beanie and jacket, then walk a short distance outside, enter a building and remove scarf, gloves, beanie and jacket REPEAT continuously until you decide to become a winter recluse because going outside is too much bloody effort!
The novelty of snow has not yet worn off however but I suspect the second I'm required to drive and/or be a fully functioning person outside at this time of year, my opinion of snow will change dramatically.
Snow ... it makes everything look clean and pretty. May also assist in helpers smokers kick the habit ... for a few months at least! :)
