    On the 3rd floor there is the workshop. 6 or 7 pairs of workers ink the blocks and press the paper on them with amazing speed. They have a key role in preserving Tibetan culture and believes, which have been threathened over the ages by both China and the old Western empires. by: dege Views[152] Pilgrims come here from all over the country for prayer and worship. They circambulate the Scriptures temple counting their steps through the beads in their hands. by: dege Views[198] Derge gGon Chen monastery was founded in 1446 by Yogis Hang Stong Rgyal Po and the first local king Bo. It doubled as palace for the kings, but is most famous for being one of the cradles of Tibetan Buddhist study and practice. by: dege Views[269] The library with more than 140,000 printing blocks is a large collection of national cultural relics and 830 books consisting of 10000 volumes. The last surviving copy of an old history of Indian Buddhism is amongst them. Dege is the hidden Eastern door to an invaluable treasure of wooden printing blocks with Tibetan Buddhist texts in the ancient Tibetan province of Kham.
