Today we’ve seen mountains with snow, mountains with rain forest, bare rock mountains, an extinct volcano, glaciers, larges lakes, small lakes, rivers, rapids, waterfalls, the sea, a light house, blue sky, fluffy clouds, 1 penguin, 2 seals, 3 lambs and a sunset.
We’ve walked, been driven in a mini bus and a big bus, flown in a 6-seater plane, been up in a chair lift and been one of a handful of passengers on board a steam ship.
We’ve shopped, gone on the internet, planned our further travels, discussed coaching, eaten a 6 course meal and of course looked in wonder.
We’ve met a man from Essex who is now a pilot giving scenic flights between Queenstown and Milford Sounds, a couple from Australia, an American traveller who prefers to stay in doors. 2 coaches who were on my conference, a tour guide on the boat who had made our sandwiches and who never gets fed up of seeing the same scenery, the most laid back boat driver I’ve ever seen, a young lady travelling from Canada and an Australian woman who doesn’t like NZ food.
Mum arrived from the UK yesterday. We’ve been delighted by the perfect weather, clear blue skies and crisp air. We’re very comfortable with the friendly New Zealand atmosphere. We’ve been overwhelmed by the scale and diversity of the scenery. Mum’s says she’s stunned by the beauty of the wonders here. I’m amazed at how much we’ve packed in today. Our Wow factor is off the scale!
The Australian couple we met on the scenic flight said they’d left the best till last and I wonder if any of our future days together can match this? Have we peaked too soon? Is every peak followed by a trough or could we possibly soar higher and higher?
