My Scholarship entry - Winter Wonderland

With a background in graphic design and illustration, photography was a subject i was interested in but the passion only emerged upon travelling away from home. Taking pictures for me was the best way of sharing my journey and experiences with those not lucky enough to be there with me. Rather than using my camera to document where i'd been, my destinations were soon revised upon where i could now take the best photos as the camera became the inspiration.

My series of images are based in Whistler Canada, it's an amazing place and to combine my passion for the outdoors and photography make it such an inspirational subject. Standing alone on a mountain, hearing the cheers of the bobsleigh crowd or just walking the village make for a diverse subject matter with beauty and excitement.

I love the saying "the more photos you take the luckier you get" and for me great images are not just snapped, they are planned and require a lot of time and effort to stand out.

Photography now rules my life, it's what i enjoy doing and where i want to be and thus im willing to learn and do what it takes to make this a reality.
