My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Palestine | Friday, July 5, 2013 | 5 photos

I have just completed a BA in Photojournalism at London College of Communication, and have been awarded first class honours for my work; this means I am now starting my career as a photojournalist and working without the mentorship the course has provided. Despite my valuable experience in the field I know I still have a lot to learn, and the opportunity of this scholarship to improve my practise whilst working on new exciting projects with successful industry professionals is a prospect I would relish.
I see myself as an activist, and photography gives me the chance to get involved with stories that I feel passionately about. I always aim to submerse myself in the projects I am working on as much as possible, as it is the best way to convey the feelings of what I am photographing fairly and truthfully. It is my duty as a photographer to show the stories in this way. Documentation and exposition of events, places and issues is I feel a very important part of our society's education and progression. I think fantastic imagery is also an essential part of storytelling, letting people be drawn into reading a story they otherwise might not be take interest in.
